The NanoTest system is a unique instrument designed for a comprehensive analysis of mechanical and tribological properties of materials on the nano and micro scale. The nanoindentation test can be used to measure hardness, modulus of elasticity as well as creep and relaxation of materials. The scratch test and multiple-pass scratch test are used to explore the tribological properties of surfaces, including adhesive/cohesive failure. Resistance to dynamic impact can be tested by an accelerated impact test. The acoustic emission detection system coupled with the NanoTest system provides real-time and unique information about subsurface damage occurring during nano/micro-mechanical tests otherwise inaccessible.
