Text

The apparatus enables the growth of single crystals of hygroscopic halides and other materials (requiring an anhydrous environment) from their melt, which takes place under a protective inert atmosphere (Ar, N2). It is equipped with a removable vacuum-tight growth chamber which can be transported to a glove box with an inert anhydrous atmosphere, where it is possible to perform all the preparatory work and set up the experiment without the risk of exposing the material system to the air. The dimensions of the resulting single crystal range from 2-3 mm in diameter and about 10-30 mm in length. After the growth is completed, the chamber is transported back to the glove box, where the crystal can be further handled under a protective atmosphere.
