Design, preparation, and characterization of optical micro- and nano-structures in order to exhibit specific phenomena that useful for amplification of weak signals in optical spectroscopy such as surface plasmon-enhanced fluorescence and surface-enhanced Raman scattering. Development of sensor concepts utilizing metal organic framework materials. Supporting numerical electromagnetic simulations of optical nanomaterials, particularly those exhibiting plasmonic characteristics.
