Food safety is a contemporary topic. Long-distance trade, exchange of goods, tourism, but also organized crime, these are all phenomena that increase the risk of food infection. Biochip technologies developed as part of the project will allow faster and reliable testing of the sample on the spot without costly and long analyses. Technology can thus contribute to faster identification of disease sources, lower harm to population health and lower treatment costs.

The main objective of the project is preparation and commercialization of new biochip technology for food safety control. This technology will be offered to institutions in Prague which have interests in the field of food safety, work with food, or have interests in the field of detection of pathogens from other complex samples.

The aim of the project will be feasibility verification of 3 sub-biochip technologies for the detection of pathogens. The first technology aims to test the device for rapid detection on the ground with a wide range of food samples. The second technology is aimed at a device for detection of one particular group of pathogens. The last technology is aimed at a device that combines detection of bacteria and toxins.

This project is co-financed by EU.
