Innovative plasma-chemical and chemical synthesis of nickel-containing mixed oxide catalysts for the oxidation of volatile organic pollutants

Abstract

The proposed project aims to prepare mixed nickel oxides in Ni-Cu, Ni-Co, Ni-Mn, Ni-Co-Mn and Ni-Cu-Mn compounds. The main objective of the project is the preparation of catalysts for total oxidation of volatile organic compounds with sufficient adhesion of deposited oxides to the support, low pressure drop of the catalyst bed and high utilization of active components. The mixed oxides will be prepared on metal sieves by a combination of physical sputtering and chemical deposition. The plasma-jet system with metal hollow cathodes will be used for deposition of nanostructured thin films of mixed metals or their oxides. Subsequent deposition of the precursors of mixed oxides by sol-gel and hydrothermal reactions ensures the formation of multi-layered structures of catalytically active mixed nickel oxides. The project outputs will include an optimized process for the preparation of multi-layer supported catalysts of mixed nickel oxides, characterized by high activity, selectivity and stability in the catalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds.
