Chiral induced spin selectivity effect (CISS) on single helical molecules and their structures

Abstract

The aim of this project is to explore possibilities to control the spin by means of chiral molecules and to form structures on surface to enhance chiral-induced spin selectivity effect (CISS) under UHV conditions. We will employ low temperature scanning probe spectroscopy techniques to identify the selectivity of helical molecules towards spin-polarized electrons. Helical conglomerates will be formed by on-surface-chemical reactions and will be examined for CISS effect. This will allow us to understand the relation between chirality and spin-selectivity for single molecules and their structures.
