Optical peculiarities in carbon-doped garnets

A new process of garnet crystal growth with carbon doping has been developed at ISMA. These materials possess some special properties: a very high light yield at Ce-doping, irreversible elimination of color centers after thermal annealing. This report adresses some recent results on optical properties of YAG:C and YAG:Ce,C crystals, including selective spectroscopy, TSL, luminescence decay.
