Dioscuri centrum jednomolekulové optiky

Anotace
The Dioscuri Centre of Single-molecule Biophotonics (DC) aims to the development of next-generation life-science tools, as well as their practical applications addressing the current topics in biochemistry, biophysics, and medicine. Particular focus is dedicated to single-molecule microscopy employing the unique properties of nanofluidic systems. The design and development of novel instrumentation requires concerted effort on several fronts, including theoretical investigation of light-matter interaction and mass-transport at single-molecule level, as well as the advancement of optical instrumentation, nanofluidic technology, and data-processing. DC strives to deliver tools that will make key contributions to the fundamental understanding of single-molecule processes pervading biological systems. DC will carry out studies of biomolecular interactions and the associated dynamics, molecular transport, and aggregation processes. The research will inspire new strategies for early diagnosis and therapeutic intervention or invention of new biotechnologies mimicking the nature.
