The coexistence of superconductivity and ferromagnetism, traditionally considered as antagonists, has intrigued the researchers in the field of Condensed Matter Physics. While magnetic field is detrimental to conventional superconductivity, ferromagnetic superconductors feature field-reentrant or field-reinforced superconductivity. Compounds like UGe2, URhGe, and UCoGe are known to exhibit this phenomenon. The newest member of the family UTe2 was discovered in 2018 and swirled a flow of debates since then. While it is a paramagnet down to the lowest temperatures, its believed to be on the verge of ferromagnetism. In my talk I will discuss the results of thin films production of various stoichiometries of uranium tellurides at ITU Karlsruhe and first attempts to grow UGe2 thin films in Prague.
