NanoESCA is a device based on new ideas and a construction connecting PEEM – Photoemission Electron Microscope with photoelectron spectroscopy for chemical analyses (ESCA). The combination of the methods opens a possibility to study the chemical composition and structural properties with the lateral resolution on the nanometric scale. The apparatus is based on the integration of two energy analyzers of the kinetic energy of emitted electrons, filters, and the imaging column commonly used in electron microscopy. Three different operating modes use different parts of the electron optics: PEEM microscope, classical ESCA mode, and 2D imaging ESCA and PEEM modes, which enable to carry out micro-ARPES characterization.
