Our exhibit dominated the first hall and became one of the fair’s most popular stops. Visitors could not only view the physical phenomena we presented but also experience them firsthand.
From 4 to 6 June 2026, the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (FZU) will be at the Science Fair every day from 10 am to 6 pm. Come and see what really goes on inside a physics laboratory.
For the ninth time, we met science enthusiasts from schools and the general public at the Czech Academy of Sciences' Science Fair, the largest popular science event in the Czech Republic. At the FZU exhibition, people could play sunrays in the photovoltaic tent, see the spectrum of visible light with their own eyes, build molecules from Lego, read new physics-themed comics and short stories, and also see a real magnetic sputtering machine, observe the martensitic transformation of alloys under a microscope, and other important physical instruments and phenomena.

Institute of Physics would like to invite you for a visit to the Science Fair. It has become a tradition that we are one of the biggest exhibitors among the Institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences and there will not be another fair in the year 2022 where you could meet us on such a big scale. This year, together with ELI and HiLASE centres, we have prepared tens of fantastic exhibits waiting for curious visitors.
Nataliya Kazachková lost both her university office and home. The bombing of Kharkiv turned her life upside down, but the tenacious scientist did not give up. Together with her parents and younger daughter she managed to leave Ukraine, and thanks to the programme of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic “Researchers at Risk Fellowships - Ukraine”, since April she has been working at the Institute of Physics.
