On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, a joint conference of the Institute of Physics (FZU) and the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCB) of the Academy of Sciences took place. Its aim was to find potentially interesting topics on which to build long-term cooperation between the two institutes of the Academy of Sciences.
Starting Monday, May 5, for four days we could meet almost a hundred international participants of the final meeting of the Advancement and Innovation for Detectors at Accelerators (AIDAinnova) project in the corridors of the Solid 21 building and the old building of the Institute of Physics.
ICHEP2024, the largest international conference on high energy physics, attracted 1400 participants from 55 countries to Prague. In addition to thousands of lectures, scientists were also offered three panels – two dealing with the future of particle physics and its benefits for society and the third on the importance of education and popularisation of science.
The ICHEP 2024 conference, the premier event in particle and astroparticle physics, is set to take place from18 to 24 July at the Prague Congress Centre. This highly anticipated conference will gather over 1300 scientists from around the globe to discuss the latest findings and advancements in the field.
An international physics conference “Frontiers of Quantum and Mesoscopic Thermodynamics”, taking place in Prague in August 2022, dealt with small nanosystems with sizes from tents to hundreds of nanometres in non-equilibrium conditions. The behaviour of such systems is thought to have a significant impact on the future of nanotechnologies, quantum computers development but also on the future of chemistry and medicine.
As part of the Open Science programme, on November 21 and 22, 2019, a Student Scientific Conference took place presenting results of students’ study stays. FZU visiting students have been successful three times.
The conference and workshop were focused on the latest discoveries in the area of crystal growth, epitaxy, characterization and applications.
