Czech Academy of Sciences
- The Lumina Quaeruntur fellowship is a new instrument for supporting scientific excellence at the institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS). It is awarded to outstanding researchers in the early years of their career who aim to tackle difficult scientific problems with a potential to shift frontiers of knowledge, generate high impact, and establish a new team. Researchers up to 10 years from PhD acquisition, with international experience and publications in high impact journals are eligible. The fellowship is awarded for 5 years through nomination by the directors of CAS institutes and subsequent competition.
- Postdoctoral fellowships Researchers with no more than two years of postdoctoral experience are eligible to apply for this two year fellowship. At the time of application, they must be employees of one of the institutes the Czech Academy of Sciences. The calls are twice a year, in April and September. Applications have to be pre-approved by the director’s council and submitted by the Science Secretary through the KIS portal.
- Praemium Academiae A five year senior academic research fellowship awarded to outstanding experienced scientists, whose research has received worldwide recognition, to support their teams working on a project with a potential to shift frontiers of knowledge. The prospective fellow must be nominated to the competition by the director of the institute.
- Mobility and Mobility Plus Bilateral academic cooperation support depends on agreements concluded between the Czech Academy of Sciences and its international partner organisations and changes every year. All researchers of CAS are eligible to apply with proposals for joint projects, secondments and participation in conferences. Application requirements and conditions of the collaboration differ depending on the partner. The application is submitted via KIS portal by the researcher and has to be approved by the Science Secretary.
- Research and Mobility Support for Junior Researchers The grant is awarded for two years and supports researchers that aim to conduct their research at a research institution abroad. Only researchers that received their PhD no longer than 3 years prior to the call are eligible to apply. The grant applications are submitted to CAS by the Science Secretary.
- Otto Wichterle Award The aim of the Otto Wichterle Award is to stimulate and encourage selected, exceptionally outstanding, promising young scientists at the Czech Academy of Sciences and award them for their outstanding contributions to the advancement of scientific knowledge in their research field. It is given for two years in the form of a lump sum. Nominations are sent by the director of the institute to CAS and subsequently evaluated by the appointed academic Jury.
FZU
- FZU PhD studentship All PhD students registered at a university and supervised by FZU researchers can apply for FZU PhD studentship. The studentship relates to 0,4 FTE up to the State Examination, and afterwards extends to 0,6 FTE until the end of the PhD programme. It is awarded for 4 years, exceptionally it may be extended to 5 years. During one of the FZU performance assessment rounds that take place twice a year, the supervisor nominates the student for the studentship. It has to be subsequently approved by the evaluation committee.
