Preparation of phosphate glasses

Text

Double phosphates (PO3) - alkali metals (Li, Na, K, Cs) and rare earth metals (Y, Ce, Gd, Pr, La) doped with rare earth ions (Ce, Er, Pr, Yb) are prepared. The glasses are prepared by melting the starting materials (phosphates and carbonates) and casting the glasses into graphite form. In this way, for example, potassium-lanthanum phosphate glasses with different phosphorus pentoxide contents and doped with erbium and ytterbium (Er, Yb: KLaP) were prepared. These glasses have been studied for possible applications as solid-state lasers operating at 1.53 µm.
