Advanced materials for nuclear facilities


Harsh conditions as intense radiation, high temperature and the presence of corrosion agents jeopardize the normal function of the construction materials operating in nuclear facilities. Consequently, there is a serious technologic, economic, and environmental demand for advanced metallic glasses and nanocrystalline alloys for particle accelerators, and construction steels for nuclear reactors with long-term reliability. 


Thorough study of novel materials by means of hyperfine interactions elucidates the relationship between different types of structural modifications of surface layer and bulk, and magnetic ordering in advanced alloys.
