Abstract
The project brings together key players in the semiconductor value chain in the Czech Republic – leading universities (Brno University of Technology, Czech Technical University in Prague, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Charles University in Prague, Masaryk University in Brno), research institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences (Institute of Physics, Institute of Applied Optics) and major industrial companies (e.g. onsemi, UJP Praha, Advacam, AVL Graz, Advascope, Crytur, ThermoFisher Scientific, Škoda Plzeň, IQS nano, Mycroft Mind, NenoVision). Together, they carry out applied research in three strategic areas:
1. Diagnostics, instrumentation, and semiconductor materials – instrumentation and diagnostics, including electron microscopy, laser and thin-film technologies, new materials with overlap into quantum technologies, and manufacturing technologies.
2. Microelectronics and sensors – integrated systems, including radiation-resistant blocks and components with built-in intelligence, sensors (e.g., new ionizing radiation detectors), AI, and SoC.
3. Power semiconductors, electronics, and systems – WBG power semiconductors, power modules.
