Research into the use of physical methods of egg sterilization for hatching (KURE)

Abstract

The project is focused on a hatching egg sterilization based on physical methods - namely low temperature plasma (LTP). Compared to the existing methods, LTP should result in an increased efficiency of poultry farming and eliminated health and ecological risks. The higher added value and efficiency further contribute to higher competitiveness of the poultry industry and food self-sufficiency of the Czech Republic. An LTP generator optimized for a single-egg sterilization will be designed and tested. The effect of LTP will be studied including an impact of LTP on hatching rate and chicken health. By the end of the project, a system for a low-production line should be developed and tested in service.
