Abstract
Open-closed duality is one of hallmarks of string theory which sets it apart from usual field theories. What would appear as ultraviolet divergence of the theory of the open strings can be reformulated as infrared divergence in the closed string sector. In this proposal we shall address this duality from a novel perspective using string field theory. Related issue is that of symmetries in string field theory where full understanding is still lacking.
