Graphene-Diamond Heterostructures for Electrochemical Supercapacitors and Gas Sensing Applications (Graphene-Diamond)

Abstract
The bilateral project focuses on the fabrication of graphene-diamond (G-D) heterostructures and utilizing them as electrodes in supercapactior and gas sensing devices. Complementary Czech and Indian research teams will involve novel technological pathways for 1) the fabrication of porous and doped D films and their disaggregation in micro- or nano-particles, 2) fabrication of G-D heterostructures, 3) the suitability of this G-D heterostructured electrode in the development of reliable electrochemical supercapacitors will be demonstrated using both inert electrolyte (1M Na2SO4) and redox pair contained electrolyte (1M Na2SO4 + 0.05 M [Fe (CN)6]3-/4-). Furthermore, using these electrodes, detection of toxic gases (NO2, NH3) and also humid air will be investigated.
