Development of pump with connected blades for function in liquid lead (LeadPump)

Abstract
The project aims at the development of pumps for use in Generation IV reactors cooled by liquid lead, where the issue of material resistance of these pumps represents one of the key challenges to be addressed. Lead-cooled reactors undoubtedly meet the requirement for the “development of nuclear technologies based on GEN III or GEN IV with greater flexibility of localisation due to high nuclear safety, higher efficiency of electricity generation, lower investment costs, and potentially reduced production of radioactive waste and increased resistance to misuse for nuclear weapons production.” Furthermore, considering the previous experience of the institutions involved in the project, the requirement to utilise their unique expertise and international engagement in this field is demonstrably fulfilled.
