Cosmology, Gravity and the Dark Sector of the Universe (CoGraDS)

Abstract

In line with the current and future European and US scientific space missions, the project CoGraDS aims to provide answers to the key questions in cosmology such as the origin of structure in the universe, the nature of dark matter and dark energy, and the validity of Einstein’s theory of General Relativity. Our goal is also to enable technological advances in observational technology, both through the development and characterisation of modern photosensors and our participation in the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope. We expect that the multidisciplinary research will lead to new knowledge about the physics of the beginning and evolution of the universe, both at large and small scales.

These questions will be tackled by an international team of scientists at the newly established Central European Institute for Cosmology and Fundamental Physics (CEICO) at the Institute of Physics. CEICO’s mission is to provide opportunities for young researchers from the region and to attract and engage leading scientists from abroad.

You can read more about the project on the CEICO website.
