Summary
The scientific work of the department is mainly related to the interdisciplinary research of advanced functional materials for applications in electronics, optics, optoelectronics, gas sensors and medicine with high innovation/industrial potential. The laboratories are focused on theoretical/practical approaches of design and development of thin film PVD techniques synergistically connected with characterization by high-tech devices (NanoESCA, AFM, STM, SEM, EPR, Mass spectrometry, Ellipsometry).
