We confirmed stabilization of Eu2+ ions at Y3+ site in Y3Al5O12 powder and ceramics by electron paramagnetic resonance. Even if the Eu2+ intensively emit in powder samples in the bulk ceramics its emission is blocked due to the Eu2+ - F+(Vo+) pair centers at which the nonradiative relaxation occurs. Current technology is not able to remove such centers. At the same time, such ceramic phosphor is perspective for solid state lighting applications.
