The major objective of this project is to realize IBC-SHJ solar cells with efficiency above 25.5% and corresponding solar modules with efficiency above 22.0%. In particular, a number of new material and process innovations throughout the wafer, cell and module fabrication that go beyond the state-of-the-art will be introduced into the device to achieve the targeted efficiency values. The development of these next-generation increased efficiencies will drastically reduce the technological risks for bringing the technology validated in this project to the next development stage. This will also lead to an increase of the confidence of investors in the strength of European PV industrial technology base. High efficiency is the key driver for cost reduction of photovoltaic systems, since the increase of efficiency is directly passed on to the decrease of the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE).
This project is financed by EU.
