This project is focused on experimental studies of metal organic frameworks, suitable of infusion with other substances (liquids, amorphous and poorly crystallizing substances), studies of their infusion process and transformations. The conditions of metal organic frameworks infusion are essential for retention of crystallinity of the frameworks and acquiring structural information of sufficient quality. The infusion process is still in development and remains poorly explored. We will prepare high quality single crystals of studied frameworks and we will study in detail the infusion process and the effect of infusion condition on frameworks crystallinity. The infusion process will be optimized for analysis of carboxylic acids, widely present among NSAIDs, and antiviral drugs. We will investigate the coordinative alignment process and transformations of metal organic frameworks to receptors for specific substances (anions, cations, nucleosides) be means of single crystal-single crystal chemical reactions. This work is expected to clarify details of infusion process and reveal new crystal structures of pharmaceutical substances. This topic might have an impact in research and development of pharmaceutical substances.
