PhD student Ing. Ondřej Szabo won the 1st place in the Best Young Researcher Contribution Contest at the International Conference on Progress in Applied Surface, Interface and Thin Film Science (Surfint-SREN V), which took place in November 2017 in Florence. Over 60 young scientists took part in the competition this year.
In December, Ing. Szabo was awarded the 1st prize for the best poster at the “Afternoon with Electrochemistry” meeting at the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
Contributions with the names “CVD diamond thin films – Functional material for clean environment monitoring” and “Boron-doped diamond thin films for applications in environmental technology” are the result of authors from the Diamond laboratory of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague (Dr Kromka). The works presented results of basic research of diamond material with potential application in wastewater treatment and the detection of pollutants in water or in the atmosphere. The research was supported by CSF project 17-19968S and by EU project “Physics at your service” CZ.07.1.02/0.0/0.0/16_023/0000115.
