The metallographic laboratory is fully equipped for the preparation of samples for microscopic observations. The laboratory includes equipment for cutting, grinding, mechanical and chemo-mechanical polishing. The laboratory is also suitable for performing of basic chemical operations, such as chemical polishing or etching. The laboratory is also equipped with a muffle furnace allowing annealing of materials at temperatures up to 1100 °C in air.
