Thermal plasma spraying as a new approach for preparation of zinc scaffolds: A complex material characterization

Perex

Zinc alloys were studied as candidates for biodegradable implants. Their porous form is required for applications in the trabecullar bone. Porous materials possess structures and moduli of elasticity similar to that bone; therefore, they enhance bone healing in vicinity of an implant. Using thermal plasma spraying, we prepared porous zinc, which showed suitable mechanical and corrosion properties while not any cytotoxicity.
