The Josef Hlávka Prize has been awarded

On June 20th, 2011, Josef Hlavka Prize was awarded to Prof. Dr Ivan Pelant from the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and to associate Prof. Dr Jan Valenta from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague.

The Prize was awarded for an original book of scientific literature entitled „Luminiscenční spektroskopie II. Nanostruktury, elektroluminiscence, stimulovaná emise” (Luminescence Spectroscopy II. Nanostructures, Electroluminescence, Stimulated Emission), published by Academic Publishing House, Prague, in 2011. The book continues a preceding volume I, published in 2006, and covers the worldwide dynamic development in the field of nanotechnologies, as seen from the viewpoint of the optical properties of semiconductor low-dimensional structures. The Prize is being awarded jointly by the Czech Literary Fund Foundation and the Foundation of Josef, Marie and Zdenka Hlavka, the ceremony taking place in the Luzany Castle near Pilsen.
