J. R. R. Tolkien has created without any doubts astonishing work fascinating and supporting the imagination of the people across the generations. Professor Tolkien has created complex world with a rich history known as the Middle-Earth. Reading Tolkien´s books, it is possible to see the great importance of astronomy and of the movements in the sky in the stories of the Middle-Earth. A reader can easily notice the similarities between the sky of the Middle-Earth and the actual sky which we see from the Earth. During the lecture, it will be shown that professor Tolkien was really using the knowledge of the movement of celestial objects and the basic astronomical references which appear in the Lord of the Rings will be explained.
