The main popularization event of the institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences is the Science and Technology Week, the biggest festival of science in the Czech Republic. As part of the Science and Technology Week, we organize Open Day every year. On particular days, it is possible to visit FZU laboratories as well as other institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences, listen to lectures, see exhibitions or attend demonstrations of interesting experiments. This event is really suitable for students of vocational and grammar schools and for their teachers.
The main building of the FZU traditionally offers a number of open laboratories where neutrinos, liquid crystals, solid and liquid substances and their surprising properties including superconductivity, shape memory and many others are studied. Excursions for schools and public are organized into several tours which the participants can register for in advance. Also lectures about cosmic rays and particle research in CERN are prepared.
In addition, the FZU facility in Cukrovarnická street in Střešovice offers programmes for pupils of lower-secondary schools, viewing of microscopes and historical tours.
Laser centres ELI Beamlines and HiLASE in Dolní Břežany invite visitors from lower and upper secondary schools, but also the general public including families with children for commented tours and programmes by the most powerful laser systems in the world.
