Veronika is a PostDoc at the Laboratory of Functional Biointerfaces. During her PhD studies, she focused on the study of recombinant spider silk proteins' behavior under various environmental conditions (different temperatures, pH, and salt concentrations) and on determining the molecular mechanism of fibrillization of these proteins through advanced kinetic measurements. She is currently working on preparing and characterizing antifouling surfaces for biosensors and their subsequent functionalization with antibodies or DNA aptamers. She uses these chips for the detection of Giardia lamblia pathogens and significant biomarkers of various diseases using SPR and QCM techniques. Additionally, she is developing chips with a combination of single stranded DNA oligonucleotides and antifouling brushes, which the team aims to utilize in organ-on-a-chip applications.
