Most precise measurement of the cosmic-ray energy spectrum at ultra-high energies

Text

In 2020 the Pierre Auger Observatory published the most precise measurement of the cosmic-ray energy spectrum at ultra-high energies using the events recorded over more than 14 years [1, 2]. The data set consisting of 215,030 events with energies larger than 2.5x1018 eV shows new yet unobserved features of the energy spectrum. The FZU group was involved by operation of the fluorescence detector crucial for surface detector energy calibration. The PhD student, co-supervised by FZU scientist, contributed to corresponding data analysis.
