Abstract
The project goal is the functionalization of the non-polar and semipolar gallium nitride (GaN) surfaces. Clean and ordered GaN surfaces with different surface structures will be prepared under ultrahigh vacuum conditions. Atomic and electronic surface structures of GaN will be investigated. The clean GaN surfaces will be exposed by organic molecules in the gas and liquid phases. Our aim is to determine suitable experimental conditions for GaN surface functionalization by hydrogen, functional groups of alkenes, amines and organic substances for cultivation of biological films on GaN surfaces.
