In the Laboratory of Functional Biointerfaces, I focus on studying polymer nano-layers, known as polymer brushes, that are designed to prevent unwanted fouling especially on biochips in biosensing applications. I use different spectroscopic methods like FTIR, ellipsometry, Raman spectroscopy, and SERS to explore their properties. I'm also interested in how these materials interact with biomolecules, which I study using surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and proteomics. Lately, I’ve been exploring chiral polymer brushes - their synthesis and how they might be used for chiral discrimination.
Outside of research, I enjoy being involved in the broader life of the institute. I help lead student internships, co-organize the annual science afternoon club for employees‘ children, and take part in the institute’s science outreach activities. I also teach regular yoga classes at the institute, which you are very welcome to join
