Mgr. Julie Nekola Nováková, Ph.D.
Julie Nekola Nováková is active in science communication practice and research, and she is also an astrobiology researcher. At the FZU, she coordinates science outreach, education and sci-art activities. She organizes outreach events such as the Theater Days or scicomm skills-building panels and workshops for scientists, and develops new outreach and educational materials.
Before joining FZU, she created e.g. the outreach anthologies of the European Astrobiology Institute, Strangest of All and Life Beyond Us. At the FZU, she has created multiple worksheets for teachers, an anthology Physics of The Future (published in Czech as Fyzika budoucnosti in spring 2025) and comics Secrets of the Nano World (available in both Czech and English), co-organized the science art exhibition Reflections and organized FZU's Theater Days including the premiere of her play about the physicist Leo Szilard, The Martians. As a writer outside of these projects, she published ten novels in her native Czech and several dozen short stories in English as well as Czech. Her first children's book, Pohádky z Mléčné dráhy (Tales from the Milky Way), narrating the history of the universe through a modern fairytale, is slated for publication in 2027 (so far in Czech).
She holds a doctorate in evolutionary biology and remains a researcher on a project at the Faculty of Science, Charles University.
