Rapid laser-induced nanostructuring for yeast adhesion-reducing surfaces using beam shaping with SLM

Text

A novel technology for rapid fabrication of biofilm-resistant surfaces using ultrashort laser pulses and dynamic beam shaping with a spatial light modulator (SLM) was developed. Optimized laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) reduced adhesion of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast by up to 99.88 %. The method also significantly increases nanostructuring speed, enabling scalable industrial applications in healthcare and food-processing industries.
