The project proposes innovative development of a single-yoke system for magnetic hysteresis and Barkhausen noise measurements. To stabilize the magnetization conditions and to make the measurement results independent on the yoke lift-off, an iterative digital feedback procedure will be developed to control the magnetic field/flux waveform. The sample magnetization will be controlled by an array of Hall sensors measuring tangential surface field profile above the sample. Extrapolation of this profile to the sample face determines the actual sample field. To make the measurements independent on the sample dimensions, a special sensor for local Barkhausen noise measurement will be constructed and tested. It will contain the Hall sensor/s for magnetization control with the digital feedback coupled with an attached coil for the measurement of Barkhausen noise response. Detailed investigation of applicability of the proposed technique to classical cases of industrial interest will be done. In case of positive results, a patent application for the Barkhausen noise sensor will be submitted.
