Nitride heterostructures for fast detection of ionizing radiation

Abstract

The main goal of the project is to develop and prepare nitride heterostructure with polar orientation and with increased overlap of electron and hole wave function, which can be used as fast detector of ionizing radiation. Fast detectors are based on luminescence response to absorbed ionizing radiation. The aim of the project is to develop heterostructure with higher luminescence intenzity than convetional YAG scintillators and with luminescence response decay time below 10 ns. The aim is also to suppress intenzity of yellow defect band.
