The seventh HR Coffee & Talk took place at Slovanka and Cukrovarnická. Over the course of the afternoon, staff could ask about courses, grants and outreach. They also left with contacts for colleagues from other departments.
Room for questions and networking
The programme ran outdoors and informally. Each team had its own stand, and people stopped by according to what interested them. Beyond the stands, the afternoon served as a chance to meet across the institute.
Many people from different departments and research groups do not run into each other during the year, even though they work on related topics. Here, they got to know one another and talked about what each of them is working on.
At the stands
Colleagues from grant support introduced the range of their services. The PR department's stand displayed outreach materials, among them the comic Taje nanosvěta (Secrets of the Nanoworld) in its Czech and English versions and the Fyzikální zákony (Laws of Physics) memory game. The library also had its say, with Open Science, the MSCA COFUND Physics for Future project and the new Code of Ethics.
The Code has been in force since 1 August 2026 and covers integrity and professional conduct, an equal working environment, career development, good research practice, the use of artificial intelligence and the handling of ethical concerns. The HR team put together a short questionnaire on it and handed out ice lollies to everyone who filled it in. Readers were not in short supply.
FZU Director Michael Prouza summed up the event: "Coffee and Talk is a well-established and enjoyable occasion at the end of the summer. Administrative and research staff alike find out what is new across a whole range of areas. From science outreach through technology transfer to human resources, recruitment and open science."
