The poster titled "Anonymization: The Future is Unbiased", presented by the FZU team (led by Markéta Iffland and Lucie Speváková) at the EARMA–INORMS Congress 2025, has been selected by expert committee as the best poster. The event, held from 6 to 8 May 2025 in Madrid, Spain, brought together over 2,000 research management professionals from 67 countries, offering a unique platform for in-person networking and exchange of best practices.
The poster showcased the implementation of blind evaluation within the Physics for Future (P4F) project, co-funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions COFUND. The approach, which removes identifying information from proposals, aims to promote fairness and reduce bias in the selection of postdoctoral fellows.
The poster highlighted both applicant and evaluator perspectives, with survey results indicating that 72% of applicants and 66% of evaluators considered that anonymization contributed to a fairer evaluation process.
EARMA and INORMS
EARMA (European Association of Research Managers and Administrators) is a European professional organisation that brings together experts involved in research management and administration. Its mission is to support the exchange of best practices, professional development, and collaboration among research institutions, industry, and the public sector. EARMA provides its members with a platform for education, networking, and sharing experiences in the field of research project management.
INORMS (International Network of Research Management Societies) is an international network that connects national and regional associations focused on research management around the world. Its aim is to facilitate interaction, the exchange of best practices, and coordination of activities among member organisations, bringing benefits to their individual members.
Both organisations work closely together to promote professional development in research management and organise joint conferences, such as this year’s INORMS 2025 Congress, held in Madrid.
P4F
Physics for Future (P4F) is a postdoctoral programme coordinated by the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (FZU) and co-funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions COFUND under Horizon Europe. Its aim is to support excellent researchers in carrying out their own research projects during two-year fellowships at FZU or ELI Beamlines.
The programme provides access to state-of-the-art research facilities, expert supervision, career development support, and a broad network of academic and industrial partners. Scientific focus areas include astrophysics, biophysics, condensed matter, plasma physics, and optics. The programme emphasises interdisciplinarity and strong links between academia and industry and currently prepares a second call for proposals. The details can be found here.
