Electric-field-induced transition from incommensurately to commensurately modulated phase

Text

Antiferroelectric polarization hysteresis loops in Ba4Sm2Ti4Nb6O30 and Ba4Eu2Ti4Nb6O30 have been explained as electrical-field-induced transitions from non-polar and incommensurately modulated phase to polar and commensurately modulated phase. This discovery takes a new, perspective direction of the research of lead-free antiferroelectric materials for potential accumulation of electrical energy.

TEM data a SHG signal
Description
Left – TEM data of commensurately and incommensurately modulated phases of Ba4Sm2Ti4Nb6O30.
Right – temperature dependence of second harmonic generation signal showing temperature hysteresis near ferroelectric phase transitions of the studied materials.
