Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (FZU) is a public research institution focused on basic and applied research in the field of physics. FZU has been a holder of the European Commission’s HR Excellence in Research Award since 26 April 2019. As an employer, FZU is committed to fostering a culture that promotes equality and maintains a working, learning, and social environment in which the rights and dignity of all its employees are respected. Ensuring equal opportunities for women and men within the institute is a prerequisite for achieving this goal.

Text

FZU prepared its first Gender Equality Plan (GEP) in December 2021. The GEP will be implemented in the years 2022-2023. The implementation of the Gender Equality Plan will be executed by the Gender Equality Panel and overseen by the HR Award Steering Committee. The GEP consists of a set of actions in five focus areas:

  1. Work-life balance and organizational culture
  2. Gender balance in leadership and decision-making
  3. Gender equality in recruitment and career progression
  4. Integration of the gender dimension into research
  5. Measures against gender-based violence, including sexual harassment

Since a number of the equality-related activities outlined in the GEP have already been included in the FZU Action plan 2021-2023, the GEP plan also indicates fulfilled actions in 2021 from this plan.
