Modulated elemental reactants growth and in situ analysis of two-dimensional MnxSy

Text

Multiferroic materials, which exhibit more than one ferroic order, have been studied for many years. However, only a few materials, such as BiFeO3, exhibit these properties at room temperature. Two-dimensional (2D) heterostructures are a promising approach for obtaining new materials with multiferroic properties at room temperature.

In this work, various recipes for layer-by-layer growth of simpler 2D structures such as MnxSy were developed using the method of modulated elementary reagents in the MBE system. The samples were then analyzed using in-situ high-energy reflection electron diffraction and atomic force microscopy. Their electrochemical characteristics in the hydrogen evolution reaction were also examined.

The seminar will be chaired by Hynek Němec, Department of Dielectrics.
