MnTe: facts, hypotheses and new ideas

Text

Manganese telluride, and its NiAs polymorph in particular, has become a topical material recently. In my talk, I will discuss some basic facts about MnTe (its semiconducting character or splitting in magnon dispersion characteristic for so-called altermagnets) and hypotheses such as the alignment of valence band maxima in different parts of the Brillouin zone. Further, motivated by experimental measurement of circular dichroism in the THz range, I will present an idea about determining the parameters of antiferromagnetic dynamics in this material.
