Open positions in nano-bio-sciences  home

We offer several PhD. or postdoc positions within the framework of a 5 year research project on the topic of functional hybrid nanosystems of semiconductors with organic materials (FUNS). The project aims at producing nanostructures based on semiconducting thin films (in particular of silicon, diamond, and metal oxides) and organic materials (for instance organic dyes or DNA molecules), to merge them into hybrid nanosystems with control over their growth, orientation, and position via physical and chemical parameters, and characterize their functionality with respect to their target applications in nano-sensors, nano-electronics, opto-electronics, and forensic devices. This experimental approach is supported by theoretical studies and computational modeling of properties of nano-interfaces between organic and inorganic materials.

Particular work will be related with one (or more) of the following: nanoscale characterization and modification of silicon or diamond surface electronic and chemical properties (using mainly but not only scanning probe microscopes), various means of immobilization of conjugated organic and biological molecules on these micro-patterned surfaces, and characterization of microstructural, electrochemical and electronic transport properties of such hybrid systems from the point of view of chemical and biological sensing and optoelectronic applications.
